On the Right Track Package

This comprehensive package for Rising Juniors and their families begins the summer before junior year. We will address high school curriculum choices, standardized test dates, the importance of college tours and the finances of higher education. We also begin the discussion about extracurricular activities and building the college list. Students and their families will gradually come to understand need-based aid, merit aid, grants, loans, how college size and type play a part and, most important, the goal of finding the right college fit. Students will have the opportunity to take personality tests and college match surveys. As soon as test scores (PSAT/ACT/SAT) are available, the “Building the Best Fit College List” process will begin. I meet with students and their families and recommend custom-tailored college tour itineraries based on the student’s aspirations. The spring of junior year, I help the student brainstorm the main essay for the Common Application. On August 1st, the summer before senior year, I help students choose their application deadline for each school and brainstorm the supplemental essays for individual schools. From that point on, we work on applications full on. This stage includes editing of essays, writing the activities section for the Common Application and, if needed, creating a resume. Most students apply to colleges by November 1st: I will be there during this crucial moment to help you submit these applications. As decisions start to come in, I counsel families with an eye to understanding financial aspects and overall fit. We look at all acceptance and award letters offered. My services continue through the end of freshman year of college. If you need to talk, I remain available to you at no extra cost. Also included in this package is a membership to College Pro Planner, which is a great organizational tool.

It’s Never Too Early Package

This comprehensive package is for Rising Freshman and Sophomore students and their families and initially focuses on making the best choices in high school that will ultimately affect college admissions. Consultations center on picking the right high school coursework and include conversations about the general state of college admissions and what colleges consider most important. College dynamics are always changing – I will keep you abreast of those changes. The summer before junior year, communications and meetings will become more frequent and you will transition into the On the Right Track Package and all the benefits it includes. Included in this package is a membership to College Pro Planner.

Better Late Than Never Package

This comprehensive package is not always available, but if I have space, Rising Seniors and their families will receive the same services as the On the Right Track Package, minus planning the high school curriculum. Students receive the same quality and attention, only at a significantly faster pace. Ideally, consultations start early in the summer before senior year, but if you are starting the college search process a bit later than that, I can still help. If you are ready to step up the pace, I am up for the challenge. Included in this package is a membership to College Pro Planner.
